Create an Incident Manually
Use this guide when the team wants to create an incident directly, without starting from an Alert Instance first.
Before you start
You need at least one enabled incident schema.
If there is no enabled incident schema, you will see a message telling you to create one before starting an incident.
See Incident Schema for Manual Incident Creation first if needed.
Steps
- Open Incidents or Home.
- Click Start incident.
- In Incident schema, choose the schema you want to use.
- Review or edit Title.
- Review or edit Priority.
- Review or edit Description.
- Add or edit Label key and Label value rows if needed.
- Click Start incident.
What to expect
If the chosen schema provides defaults for incident fields, the form can prefill values for you.
Review those values before starting the incident. They are a starting point, not a final decision.
After creation, 1stLine opens the Incident Details page for the new incident.
Next steps
After the incident is created, common next steps are:
- click Join the incident
- set the right Priority
- move the incident through its response status
- review Metrics
- write the Postmortem after the incident is resolved or closed
